Upazila Parishad held monthly meetings on various developmental issues in Dimla.

A monthly coordination meeting of Upazila Parishad was held on various developmental activities in Dimla Upazila of Nilphamari district. The meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad conference room on Tuesday (March 10) at noon. Dimla Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Imranuzzaman presided over the meeting. Maulana Abul Sattar, Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-1 (Domar-Dimla) Constituency was present as the Chief Guest.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Roshan Kabir, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. were present as special guests in the meeting. Rasheduzzaman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mir Hasan Al Banna, Dimla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shaukat Ali Sarkar, Upazila BNP Former President Principal Manowar Hossain, Upazila Jamaat Amir Professor Maulana Mujibur Rahman, Upazila Jamaat Secretary Roknuzzaman Bakul and Upazila Executive Engineer Sohel Rana. Also the chairmen of different union parishads of the upazila were present in the meeting. Various officials and employees of upazila administration, representatives of government and private departments, public representatives, members of voluntary organizations and local dignitaries and media workers were present in the meeting.

Various developmental activities of the upazila, government service activities and ongoing projects were discussed in detail in the meeting. At the same time, the present speakers exchanged views on various important issues including education, health care, agricultural development, infrastructure construction. In the speech of the chief guest, Member of Parliament Maulana Abul Sattar said that there are complaints of illegal quarrying of stones using heavy bomb machines from the bottom of Teesta river. He said that such activities are extremely harmful to the environment and can pose a major risk to the normal flow of the river and the riparian areas. He also said that the concerned administration should take effective measures to stop illegal stone quarrying. At the same time, strict legal action should be taken against those who are involved in such illegal activities. The parliamentarian also said that no one involved in smuggling, drug trade, cattle smuggling or the syndicates extracting stones from the river, irrespective of the party, will be exempted. The criminal should be arrested and brought under the law.
